Aerodynamic and air-vehicle design studies are performed at various levels. Ranging from panel method techniques to CFD methods using modern computational tools, the aerodynamics of various structures are analyzed. The analyses predict aerodynamic coefficients and performance and examine the effect of flow-control methods on existing structures.
Extensive flow simulations are performed around airfoils, complex 3D geometry shapes, complete aircraft geometries or isolated aircraft parts like external stores. The flow-structure and flow-sound interactions can also be studied.
Design of air vehicles is also performed. Starting from Conceptual aircraft design and going through Preliminary and Detailed design phases, design optimization is performed and modifications to existing concepts are examined. The design techniques vary and cover concepts ranging from UAVs and homebuilts to large transport and supersonic aircraft.
